A little bit about me: One year ago I was sitting in a posh office in downtown London, about to start my life in the business world. And then catastrophe struck: I downloaded an MP3 onto my computer at work. Harmless, don't you think? Two days later I found myself fired, fined, and jailed. Collateral damage of the digital age.

A little bit about me: Hello, Internet! It's me, Henry Scott. You've probably heard of me. If not, here's a primer. I've been a stand-up comedian in London for the past few years, before I realized my true calling: blogging. I didn't like the comedy world much anyway. Too many agents. I hate agents. In November 2005 me and my best buddy Mark packed up for New York City, and here we are, proud parents of BathTubYoga. What else? I like Ginkgo Biloba and Ginseng, and women love me.

A group called "Performing Politics, Inc." has outed homophobes and misogynists on the Yale University campus using... Facebook profiles. According to the Yale Daily News, the group printed out Facebook profiles of Yale students that included homophobic or misogynist statements, circled those statements in red ink, and posted the printouts on bulletin boards around campus. The ballsy part: they left the names and contact info from the profiles.
Some of the profiles included statements like "This town is so gay," and "Cubs fans are f--ing homos." One of the profiled individuals defended himself -- the YDN reports that "Nate Jackson '06 said a 'favorite quote' on his profile containing the phrase 'faggot balls' is from a movie and is not representative of his personal beliefs." I, on the other hand, personally believe in Faggot Balls.
So, did the activists students go overboard by outing specific people, or was it all fair play? A spokeman from the Facebook says that "public distribution of information on the Web site is illegal, and those who hung the fliers may face charges." The legal issues surrounding these social networks are really coming to a head... interesting stuff.

i'm not sure that this action was as productive as it could have been, but I think that it did get people talking. it is interesting that they took something already completely public and simply moved it to another space. (to paraphrase one wise sage, josh eidelson)
